What We Do

High School Program

Career EdVantage provides high school students with opportunities to explore a wide range of high-demand career fields, gain valuable real-world experience, and develop the education and skills necessary to pursue their chosen career path.

Our program is designed to help students establish a strong foundation during high school and continue building upon it beyond graduation, ensuring they are well-prepared for successful careers with local businesses that are eager to retain homegrown talent within Southwest Iowa communities.

During high school, Career EdVantage students:

  • Participate in the Career EdVantage class

  • Explore career options and identify their personal strengths

  • Create a personalized written plan for their future

  • Strengthen both academic and workplace skills

  • Participate in Career EdVantage internship experiences

  • Gain part-time employment

  • Collaborate with their Career Coach to overcome challenges

  • Take career-related courses at IWCC or within their high school

  • Apply for the Career EdVantage Scholarship

  • Complete financial aid applications (FAFSA)

  • Submit the IWCC Scholarship Application

  • Graduate from high school prepared for their next steps
